More than three-quarters of the UK’s land area is in agricultural production – it’s not by accident that it looks so great, we have an actively managed and productive landscape.

Over the last ten years farming has become more energy efficient and more input efficient as it strives to improve. Farming and primary production contribute £5.8bn to the UK economy, accounting for 0.5% of output. And IGD is committed to helping farmers and small food producing businesses by sharing best practice, supply chain expertise and consumer insight.

Farmers and producers operate within a changing global economy and face many challenges as we move into an era in which the ability of food production to meet population needs comes under scrutiny. At IGD, we believe that our knowledge and insight can inform and inspire producers to rise to these new challenges and continue to reap the rewards for the central role they play in the food and grocery industry.
